OUR ACADEMIC PROGRAM

The objective of the NBCS curriculum is to assist each student in establishing a solid academic and personal foundation, an absolute necessity for future success. The end product we seek is a well-rounded young man with character, who is also academically skilled, literate in the arts and able to succeed at the next educational level. Therefore, every NBCS student participates in a highly structured curriculum designed to develop academic skills and critical thinking abilities,

OUR MUSIC PROGRAM

The NBCS Concert Chorus is a world-renowned performing group, recognized widely for its artistry. The Concert Chorus is comprised of Upper Division students, who are in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Our Lower Division students in the 4th and 5th grades make up our Apprentice Chorus.  Both choruses have diverse repertoires that include African folk songs, classical music (Renaissance to 20th century), spirituals, contemporary show tunes, pop music and jazz.

The Concert Chorus, performs at venues throughout the USA and conducts an international tour every third year. Thus far, its travels have included Japan, Australia, South Africa, Russia, China, New Zealand, Finland, Latvia and the Czech Republic. There is no question the travel and accompanying social interaction are major factors in giving NBCS students poise, maturity and greater self-worth. Also, the rigorous musical training serves as a model for the importance of the arts as a tool for educational growth. The level of discipline, commitment, hard work and group effort instilled in and required of the boys over the five years they are with us is vital to their success. All students are required to participate in choral groups and all performances.
