ARTISTIC TRAINING

"It changed my life," said one alum about the international tour that NBCS takes every three years. Before his trip, he'd only traveled across Newark by bus; afterwards he'd flown in planes, explored 4 European cities and sung in a dozen concerts. Other life changing opportunities offered through our music program:
Meeting the Pope on a European tour.
Singing with Sting in 2010.
Learning self-discipline and teamwork.
Developing talent and self-worth under the tutelage of our music staff.

Music theory
Sight reading
Voice lessons
Keyboard lessons
Choral training
Daily rehearsal

The school is divided into the fourth and fifth grade Apprentice Chorus and the sixth, seventh and eighth grade Concert Chorus. The Apprentice Chorus performs mainly in Newark area schools, churches, and community centers. The Concert Chorus performs throughout the USA and around the world on its triennial music tour. Both choruses' repertoires range from Michael Jackson's "The Man in the Mirror" to African folk songs to classics from the Renaissance through 20th century. See Calendar/Events for upcoming concerts.
